Academic Milestones

To Achieve

01

1. Language development is a critical part of your child’s overall

development. It supports your child’s ability to communicate, and express

and understand feelings. It also supports thinking and problem-solving,

and developing and maintaining relationships. Learning to understand,

use and enjoy language is the critical first step in literacy, and the basis

for learning to read and write.

2. Physical Development : During the preschool years, there is a steady increase in children’s

height, weight, and muscle tone which affects the outward personality of

the child. Besides, promoting intake of healthy food, stakeholders should

encourage indoor as well as outdoor sports activities and play.

3.Cognitive Development :Early childhood / the initial 6 years of a child’s life are the most critical and life changing period including growth and development in physical,

mental and behavioural terms for children. This is the time span in which

a child can either develop positively or deplete his/her potential to

develop fully affected from the environmental issues negatively. This is

the reason that educators should not bound young children from exploring

their own world. However, monitoring is of utmost importance but child

should be given opportunities to develop their own thinking skills by

engaging in various activities.

4.Motor Development : Focus upon gross as well as fine motor skills through hand-eye coordination is a must for young learners. It also facilitates writing skills

in later stages. Colouring and cutting is a fun activity for such an age

group which also boosts these skills. Motor development is a major

determinant of cognitive skill development in children.

5.Numeracy Skill Development : Everything around us is mathematics and we imbibe early numeracy concepts including number recognition in children without abstraction.

Math is a subject which in later stages of life becomes a taboo or burden

over children because the roots are not strong enough. In other words,

Stakeholders should build a strong base of students in terms of pre-

numeracy concepts.
